Four days after the draw against Siena, to ruin another feast for Del Piero and friends was Fulham. The 4-1 suffered in London was not thought of by anyone and yet in England it is once again a better end for the fourth consecutive time after the eliminations suffered in recent years at the hands of Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea.
At the end of the match, one of the few to try and comment the result is Alessandro Del Piero. Notwithstanding the few minutes played, in the desperate attempt to re-open the game, the captain spoke his mind: «It is not true that we prepared for the match in a superficial way. We even managed to score the opener. At this moment it is difficult to comment. We must simply roll up our sleeves and start again. Obviously this elimination is a hard blow to our certainties».
